Terms & Conditions

Welcome to Woodberry Place English Academy. These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your enrollment in and use of our courses, learning platform, and related services. By enrolling, you agree to these Terms on behalf of yourself, or, if the student is a minor, on behalf of the student in your care.

About us

Woodberry Place English Academy is operated as a sole proprietorship by Sandun Sandamal Ruwanpathirana, trading as Woodberry Place English Academy, from 312 C Galle Road, Nupe, Matara 81000, Sri Lanka. Where these Terms refer to "the academy," "we," "us," or "our," we mean the same business.

1. Enrollment

• A one-time registration fee of Rs 2,000 applies at the point of your first enrollment. This fee is non-refundable under any circumstances.
• Once enrolled, you may transfer between courses or batches for an additional transfer fee. Please speak to us before making a transfer request.

2. Attendance requirement

• Students are expected to maintain a minimum of 80% attendance across the duration of their course.
• Where a course results in a certificate of completion or any other formal acknowledgement issued by the academy, meeting the 80% attendance threshold is a prerequisite for that acknowledgement.

3. Payments

• All course fees are due according to the payment schedule provided to you at the time of enrollment.
• Late payments are not accepted. If a scheduled payment is missed by its due date, your access to the course, platform, and materials will be suspended (see Section 5).
• Details of how your payment information is handled, including any use of third-party payment processors, are set out in our Privacy Policy.

4. Refunds and cancellations

Refunds are dealt with on the following basis, and the position is intentionally limited:

• Withdrawing before a course starts — no refund is offered on the course fees paid.
• Withdrawing mid-course — no refund is offered on any remaining course fees.
• Registration fee — never refundable, under any circumstance.
• Exception (technical or duplicate payments) — if a payment fails on our side, or you are accidentally charged twice for the same fee, the erroneous payment will be refunded to you as soon as we identify the issue, or as soon as you notify us of it.

5. Suspension of access

Your access to the learning platform, live classes, recordings, and course materials may be suspended for non-payment. Once outstanding payments are settled, access is restored. Suspension for non-payment does not entitle you to a refund of any fee already paid.

6. Code of conduct

We expect respectful behavior in all Woodberry Place spaces — physical classrooms, the online platform, live-class calls, and any group chats organized as part of your course.

• A first behavioral violation results in a written warning.
• A second violation results in a second written warning.
• A third violation results in removal from the course, with no refund.

7. Live class recordings

Recordings of your live classes are made available to you as an enrolled student for the duration of the course you are enrolled in. Once you complete the course, or leave it for any reason, your access to those recordings ends. Recordings are for personal study only and must not be shared, downloaded for redistribution, or posted elsewhere.

8. Ownership of content

• All course materials, lesson content, presentations, worksheets, question banks, and video recordings produced or curated by Woodberry Place English Academy remain the property of the academy.
• Any work you submit as part of a course — assignments, essays, spoken responses, mock-exam answers, or similar — becomes the property of Woodberry Place English Academy on submission.
• You may not copy, redistribute, resell, or reuse any academy content outside your enrollment without our written permission.

9. Account security

You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential. Do not share your account with anyone else. The academy is not liable for any loss, unauthorised access, or misuse arising from a shared or compromised account. If you suspect your account has been accessed by someone else, contact us immediately at legal@woodberryplace.com.

10. Service availability

We aim to keep our learning platform, live classes, and course materials reasonably available, and we work to keep disruption to a minimum. However, we cannot guarantee uninterrupted access at all times. Occasional maintenance, third-party outages (payment gateway, messaging providers, hosting), or unavoidable technical issues may cause temporary interruptions. Where a scheduled live class is significantly disrupted for reasons within our control, we will reschedule the session or provide equivalent recorded content.

11. Enrollment of minors

Some of our students are minors (under 18). Where a student is a minor, a parent or legal guardian must give consent for enrollment and is regarded as the party accepting these Terms on the student's behalf. Guardian contact details are collected as part of enrollment.

12. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka. Any dispute arising in connection with your enrollment or these Terms will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Matara.
